If all I have to be saved is to accept Jesus as my personal savior why do I need to present myself as workman?

Exactly, most denominations today would have you think that all you have to do is repeat "the sinners prayer" and you are saved. Obeying Jesus (which includes being baptized), spreading the gospel and edifying others is too inconvenient and doesn't attract as many people with checkbooks.
