Can a Catholic clear something up for me?

Catholics do not carry around lucky charms nor do they worship graven images. These scriptural passages do not refer to Catholics venerating images. Only God is worshiped in Catholicism. Why not everybody throw away every single photograph of their family, friends, etc or any metal object we carry around to help remind us of something or someone else? God bless.
