Can I play a torrent version of minecraft with hamachi?

I'd like to play minecraft with my friend, I'd like to also hold off on buying it so is it possible to play torrented minecraft online with hamachi to connect to that particular friend and if not, I believe minecraft is approximately 15 Euros, How much is that in USD? Thanks in advance.
