Can i buy MineCraft with a visa gift card?

I tried buying minecraft with my parents debit card and it keeps saying transaction failed money was not deducted. I was thinking of using a paypal account but everytime i click on it the money turns into euros and im from the states. Could i go to the store and buy a visa master card, activate it online and buy minecraft?
